Basal Hormone Levels	

Basal hormone levels yield much information; it is therefore important to measure directly, by radioimmunoassay, serum concentrations of prolactin, TSH, thyroxine (T4), cortisol, LH, FSH, testosterone in men, and oestradiol in women (Fig. 2.20).
